MathHappens @ Museum of Discovery and Science, Ft. Lauderdale Florida

We were swarmed in the best of ways as we opened a new Math Room August 1 in the ground floor rear atrium of the Museum of Discovery and Science in Ft. Lauderdale Florida! This museum has everything! Outdoor walking areas, sea creatures and AI room, live snakes, giant whale sculptures and more. On this day they were receiving certification for a Guinness World Record Magnatile exhibit. Now it has a MathHappens interactive space which will now be open Saturdays from 10am – 3pm for the next year.

What does it take to have a successful math room?

You need enthusiast people including MODS administrators, program directors, our coordinator, facilitators and MathHappens staff.

Visitors and the math materials. We got to see a whole new group enjoy our favorite math models and activities. Blocks Jr., Platonic Solids, Bubble Tiles, 21st Century Pattern Blocks, Puzzle A Day, Hat Tiles, the Balance Scale and more.
