“This is not what we expected to be doing all morning!”
That’s what one family said after playing at the MathHappens table on a sunny San Diego morning.
They arrived at the Civita Park Farmers Market planning to pick up some berries but got drawn into the MathHappens table, spending over half an hour with Puzzle-a-Day. Just as they were about to leave, the child in the photo shouted, “I got it!”—and everyone erupted in cheers!
You might not expect a trip to the Farmers Market to include math, but as Executive Director Lauren Siegel often says, “Why not?”
Tucked between the flowers, cheesecake, and fresh produce, MathHappens set up a booth for families to make pattern bracelets, play with shapes, and solve puzzles together. This was our first Farmers Market in San Diego and we had a blast! Check out some snapshots from the day. A special thank you to our friends at the San Diego County Office of Education for lending their canopy!
