For the past two years we have participated actively with our SE Branch library community by providing activities at events ranging form Cinco de Mayo celebrations, after school and summer programs, El Día de los Muertos, and holiday festivities of all kinds. We also have been invited to author readings and this was a really fun one. Dia de Los Ninos featuring local author Miguel Briones reading his book Macho No Machismo with a special guest visit by local luchadore Sabino Blaze! Alexa Hernandez and Jaiden Suta brought a selection of math activities and one special one designed just for this event.
What’s the math? The boy in the story has one weakness among all his strengths… it’s math! We created a version of the Smarty Cat multiplication slider in a Luccadore them so kids can practice their multiplication facts.
Kids decorated their own luccadore multiplication slider to keep.
