In July 2025, MathHappens had the opportunity to attend the Conference for the Advancement of Mathematics Teaching (CAMT) in San Antonio. It was an insightful and inspiring experience to interact with so many math educators.
Our booth was a hub of activity throughout the event. We brought a selection of our favorite models and hands-on materials for educators to explore. From geometric puzzles to interactive illusions, teachers were eager to try out the models, ask questions, and imagine how they might use them in their own classrooms. We also gave away a large supply of leftover materials, which meant many attendees left with materials to use in their classroom.
One highlight of the conference was a presentation by our very own, Matt Hertel, who shared the story of our Math Rooms. Math Rooms are dedicated spaces within communities (e.g., museums) where math comes alive through play, exploration, and conversation. He talked about how we partner with organizations across the country to create and staff these spaces, and how the work of our trained facilitators supports meaningful math engagement for visitors of all ages.
What stood out most was the enthusiasm from so many educators who expressed interest in bringing MathHappens models into their classrooms. It was inspiring to connect with teachers who care deeply about making math engaging, creative, and accessible for their students.
We’re grateful to everyone who stopped by our booth, attended our session, or shared ideas and encouragement. Events like CAMT remind us of the power of bringing the math community together and the potential to make math happen everywhere.
