Math at the Fair

MathHappens Foundation is inviting applications for teams to participate in Math at the Fair, a project that aims to build playful and creative math experiences at fairs and similar events.

what MathHappens provides

• Insights from our experience with ten years of Math On-A-Stick at the Minnesota State Fair
• Planning and implementation support tailored to local team strengths and needs
• Travel funding for one member of each team to visit Math On-A-Stick in 2025
• Connections among teams in the project

who should apply

• Teams of two-to-five people representing two or more organizations (such as teacher organizations, community and arts organizations, fair personnel, etc.)

project timeline 

June 2025: Solicit applications
June 28: Applications close
July 1, 2025: Notify successful applicants
July–August 2025: Introductory webinar and follow-up zoom calls; local organizing work begins.
August 21–September 1, 2025: Representatives of teams visit Math On-A-Stick for a day (exact date TBD)
September—October, 2025: Follow-up zoom calls, and planning for how MathHappens can support the teams.
spring and summer 2026: Launch!
