For over 30 years, Minnesotans and visitors alike, have flocked to the banks of the Mississippi River in downtown Minneapolis to enjoy one of the largest, most established, and most beloved art festivals in the Midwest: The Stone Arch Bridge Festival.

For two days, usually over Father’s Day weekend, thousands of folks come together to enjoy visual art, culinary art, music, and so much more! This year, through an invitation by SciMathMN and The Works Museum (a hands-on engineering museum for kids in the Twin Cities and one of MathHappens’ long-time partners), MathHappens had the pleasure of being a part of this art-filled weekend!

Many businesses, organizations, and non-profits worked collaboratively to host a “STEM Activity Zone” at the festival where children of all ages were able to explore and create! The engagement present in the STEM Zone was full STEAM ahead, with MathHappens’ tessellations, Bubble Tiles, and pattern blocks fueling the fun! Those who stopped by to play, would undoubtedly agree that MathHappens’ activities provided the perfect pairing of math and art at this aesthetically pleasing festival.
