Celebrating Bob Bullock’s Birthday Bash with Math, Puzzles, and VersaTiles

Recently, the MathHappens team attended the Bullock Texas State History Museum for Bob Bullock’s Birthday Bash! Over 1,200 visitors joined in on the festivities.

MathHappens interns Julie Wu, Jaiden Suda and Alexa Hernandez Lopez provided an interactive workspace where kids and parents could explore hands-on math activities.

We brought an assortment of frames that could be filled using the 21st Century Pattern Blocks. One of those frames was in the shape of a versatile. A versatile has the interesting property that it can be made up of a tessellating pentagon discovered by Marjorie Rice.

Families also took home their own lone star themed necklaces. Attendees colored their necklaces and made it their own!
